API 5L B steel pipe is a long steel strip with a hollow cross-section and no seams around it. It is made of carbon steel. Carbon steel is an iron-carbon alloy with iron as the matrix and carbon as the main added element. Carbon steel pipe has high strength and can withstand certain pressure and tension. Carbon steel pipe is used to transport media such as oil and natural gas. Due to its good sealing and strength, it can ensure safe transportation under high pressure and high temperature environment.

There are two types that seamless and welded pipes. Seamless pipes are made from steel billets or round steel. Welded pipes are made from steel plate and by process of Electric Resistance Welding ( ERW), Fusion Welding (EFW) and Double Submerged Arc Welding (DSAW).

Performance Characteristics

Strength:
API 5L B carbon steel pipe has high strength and can withstand certain pressure and tension. For example, if carbon steel pipe is used for the supporting column in the building structure, it can withstand the weight of the building and external force.
Toughness:
It has a certain toughness and is not easy to break when impacted. In mechanical manufacturing, such as the use of carbon steel pipe in the transmission shaft of the car, it can work normally without being easily damaged even if it encounters bumps and other impacts during the driving process of the vehicle.
Corrosion resistance:
Compared with some special alloy steels, carbon steel pipes have poor corrosion resistance. It is easy to rust in a humid environment. For example, after a period of time, rust will appear on the surface of carbon steel seamless steel pipes that have not been protected outdoors. However, its corrosion resistance can be improved by surface treatment, such as galvanizing and painting.
